A food blogger on TikTok has claimed we’ve been adding vinegar to our fish and chips incorrectly for all these years and has shared his top tip for doing it to avoid soggy food

If you’re on TikTok, you’ve probably realised now that there’s a life hack out there for just about everything.

And you’ve likely been told numerous times that you’re doing even the most basic of things ‘wrong’.

Well, we’re sorry to tell you there’s one more thing you can add to your list and that’s adding vinegar to your fish and chips – but shops and restaurants are also guilty of this mistake.

A user named @onlyscrans has gone viral on the social media platform after sharing a game-changing vinegar hack, reports Birmingham Mail.

They claimed that vinegar should be added to your food in a spray bottle as it will stop it from getting soggy in certain places.

The food blogger explained: “Next time you put vinegar on chips, stick it in a spray bottle and spray it all over.

“You get a nice even application and none of it gets soggy.

“You’re welcome.”

A journalist from MyLondon gave the hack a go for themselves and confirmed it really did work a trick, writing: “After a couple of sprays (okay, more than a couple) my chips were perfectly, evenly covered in vinegar.

“There wasn’t one disappointing chip with no vinegar on it to be found.”

More than two million people have watched @onlyscrans TikTok video, with thousands liking and commenting.

One person replied: “Also put the vinegar on before salt so the salt sticks and isn’t washed off.”

Another said: “OMG why have I never known this?!”

A third added: “This is so useful, I’ve had this problem for some time now where I have too much vinegar but not anymore. You are a scholar.”

However, not everyone was a fan of the hack, with some people saying they loved the soggy chips and others saying the tip felt like it “should be illegal”.
